Water shut off, tank emptied, bowl emptied, and old toilet removed from the flange. Old wax ring scraped clean from the flange surface and the horn of the old toilet.
The closet flange is inspected for cracks, corrosion, and height relative to the finished floor. A flange that sits below the floor level requires a flange extender to ensure the wax ring seals correctly. We do not skip this step.
New flange bolts set, new wax ring placed, and the toilet set directly onto the bolts and ring in one motion — repositioning a toilet after setting it on wax compromises the seal.
New braided stainless supply line installed with a functioning angle stop shut-off. Many older York homes have corroded or inoperable toilet supply valves — we replace them as part of the installation if the existing one will not close.
Tank set and bolts snugged, fill valve adjusted, and at least two complete flush cycles run and checked for leaks at the base, tank-to-bowl connection, and supply line before we leave.
